We start by stripping all lead, flash-band or felt from any cupola surface. In most cases, glass is removed then replaced later down the line according to clients specification. We would then analyse your cupola for rot, checking for structural integrity via the up-stand and base itself. By removing all previous glazing systems from the astragal's and feathers, we then determine if any are due replacement. This replacement is usually with hardwood timbers to maximise stuctural integrity. Once structural integrity is attained, our team of installers will remove the old paintwork by stripping and sanding. A light fill and sand would follow suit, allowing a blank canvas for fresh layers. Our glaziers would then fit glass as specified and our innovative anti-slip brackets will be installed to keep the glass situated. Lastly to complete this process, all of our cupolas are sealed with high performance sealants and finished with premium lead or flash-band work.
